Preventing Auto Theft
All vehicle owners share in the cost of professional auto theft.
The $8-$9 billion insurance companies pay each year for stolen
and theft-damaged cars is reflected in the premiums you pay.
Now you can help prevent these losses by having your Farmers
Agent install a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) security
marking system on your car, truck, or van.
By permanently etching the VIN into the window glass on
your vehicle, your vehicle is less likely to be stolen. It can also
assist in recovery if it is stolen. A warning label is applied to the
inside of the driver and passenger door windows just above the
lock. They tell potential thieves your vehicle in VIN marked.
Question: How does it work?
Answer: The Automark System
Thieves do not want to spend the necessary time, effort, and money
to replace glass to get rid of the VIN marking. That's what they
have to do when The Automark System is in place.
The etching system
Your agent will order a kit containing stencils bearing the VIN
of your vehicle. You will be connected when the kit arrives, and
your Agent will do the etching for you. The process is simple.
The stencils are placed on the windshield, rear window and
principal side windows. A patented etching gel is applied over
the open areas of the stencil; after one minute, the stencil is
removed and the job is done!
A record of success
Throughout the United States and Europe, law enforcement, car
rental agencies and fleet operators are aware of the effectiveness
of multiple VIN markings. Numerous tests also confirm that VIN
etching significantly reduces theft and increases the recovery
rate of stolen vehicles.
How you benefit
With the permanent VIN marking on your vehicle, you are less
likely to suffer the trauma and aggravation that accompany
losing your car to a professional thief.
